Utahns can celebrate The Days of ’47 activities by watching or participating in one of the largest youth parades in the United States on July 14, 2012. In just a few blocks, you will see marching bands, creatively decorated floats, performing groups and, of course, several thousand children having a grand time.
We are thrilled to coordinate with Union Pacific Railroad to help commemorate their 150th anniversary in 2012. More information will be forthcoming regarding their own special celebration in Salt Lake City. We think you’ll like it! Watch for more details on this page and our home page.
The 2012 Youth Parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. Be sure to get the kids up early and on their way to this fun-filled parade so everyone can beat the heat then enjoy the Youth Festival learning activities and games at the end of the Parade in Washington Square (200 East and 500 South, Salt Lake City). Parade lineup begins at 8 a.m. The deadline to submit entry applications is April 15, 2012. Please review the entry forms below for additional information.
More Fun: One float participating in the Youth Parade which best portrays The Days of ’47 theme for 201 “Pioneers — Building on the Dream” will be chosen by the judges then invited to participate in the “Big Parade” on Tuesday, July 24, 2012. All the mini-floats will be invited to our Preview Party at South Towne Expo on July 18th and 19th — a great opportunity to see all the main Parade floats and talk to their creators.
Also, vendor sales will be allowed along the Youth Prade route in 2012. To print a copy of the Vendor Permit Application, please click here. The attached form is from 2011 and the 2012 version will be available in the spring of 2012. Please note that the Application must be received no later than June 22, 2012 and that no sales or distributions along the Youth Parade route will be allowed without the permit and badges issued by The Days of ’47.
We will load the new forms early in 2012. Please check back. The attached documents are from 2011.
